Sh. V. K. Sharma is a highly decorated and extensively trained professional with over 34 years of distinguished service in the Government of India. Beginning his career as a Gazetted Officer in 1982, he has served in various capacities across the most challenging terrains and high-risk zones, including International Border and terrorist-affected border areas of Jammu & Kashmir( during Kargil War) , Parliament House Security after attack in 2003, New Delhi, Assam during peak insurgency of Bodoland (BTAD , 2014-2016 )and other places besides Himachal Pradesh.
Sh. Sharma has undergone 22 specialized professional courses from premier national institutions such as R&AW, SSB, NCRB, CISF, and NCDC etc. His diverse administrative and operational experience includes key assignments in elite organizations like the Special Security Bureau (Cabinet Secretariat), Parliament House Security as Joint Director (Technical), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (Ministry of Corporate Affairs), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Notably, he served as an Principal, intelligence training School ( for Paramilitary and Nepal and Bhutan police). instructor in Guerrilla Warfare and allied subjects at various training centers for both men and women, demonstrating his commitment to capacity building in critical security domains. As a dynamic team leader, he has managed multi-disciplinary teams ( Covert and overt operations)and complex operations with strategic foresight and operational efficiency.He has been awarded many times and the Govt of India has also decorated him with IPM for his services.
Post-retirement asDIGP,Sh. Sharma remains actively engaged in advising institutions on matters of intelligence, security, crisis response, and emergency management. He maintains close ties with a vast network of veterans from Paramilitary Forces across India, mobilizing their expertise in safeguarding vital national assets.
